My mom used NorthStar for her move and suggested I do the same since they did a good job for a fair price. Previousy, I had used friends and my brother to help me move, but all the big muscle was going to be out of town.
I called to make my appointment and they had no trouble scheduling me for the time I wanted. I can’t remember her name, but the girl that booked the appointment also mentioned the Yelp deal while I was on the phone. It was a pleasant surprise because a lot of places won’t mention special deals when it means they get paid less.
Day of the move: they sent 3 guys to move my 1 bedroom apt to another 1 bedroom apt about 10 miles away (I know it’s not far at all, but it cuts my commute down by 20 minutes). They were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 10 AM. I got a call at 7:45 saying they’d be there in 20 min. Great! When they arrived, the head guy went over the contract and pricing with me. He quoted $1200 dollars and said “This number is going to be scary, but it’s a purposely high estimate just so we don’t go over it.” Understandable, but I was still estimating to pay about $500 when all was said and done. I had pretty much packed everything and my apartment was basically empty by 10 AM. They got to my new place and everything was unloaded in about an hour.
After everything was unpacked, the earlier quote was updated and the total came out to less than $300 (with the Yelp deal). This also included all materials (4 rolls of tape and some plastic wrap) so it was a great deal!
I would absolutely use NorthStar again!
