First, Gadi Avigzer,  came to give us an estimate. He was professional and knowledgeable and set up our move as we needed it. When I had questions he was always easy to get in touch with.

Then Juan and his crew came to pack us. They were quick and professional asking me needed questions when they were ready to pack something they felt I needed to know about.

The next day Jay and his crew came to move us. They took excellent care of our possessions working quickly to pack and then bring everything into our new home. They were easy to communicate with and patient with our changing our minds where an item should go.

I feel the whole experience was excellent. Everyone tried to make our move as easy as possible. We will definitely use them again for our next move.

This was my first time using professional movers, and Chris and his team made me glad I did! They moved me from West LA to Westwood in under 3 hours, and carried everything down to the last small item out of my old apartment and into the new for me. They took extra care with old and freshly painted furniture, and stuck around to make sure we didn’t need any help organizing or re-assembling after everything was brought in. They even hauled away an old hutch left behind by a previous tenant for me, and didn’t mind at all when we insisted on scoping out the inside of the truck to confirm with our own eyes that nothing was left behind.

All three guys who worked on my move were polite, friendly, and hard-working. They were also very accommodating during a slight hiccup where I didn’t have the right keys to my new place, and made up for lost time when we were finally able to get inside, too. I thought the price was very reasonable for the service (saved $75 with the Yelp deal) and supplies (tape and shrink wrap) were competitive, too.

I’ll definitely use North Star for my next move!

NorthStar made ME look smart in front of my new employers.

In 30 years, this is my 10th time using professional movers. I got three onsite quotes, and NorthStar and the highest bidder’s quotes were $467 difference. I asked both if they would come reassess after I packed my own stuff leaving the big stuff for them to do.

The top bidder said that was not common practice, that they could reassess after the guys get it into truck.

For NorthStar, a man named Alan showed back up the next morning. After he reassessed, he determined I had cut lots of material goods costs and the dollar figure decreased a lot.

While it didn’t lower below the low ball quote, it was enough to be thankful and impressed.

My company needed documents from NorthStar to have a check in my hand the next day, so they could pay this move for me.

A woman named from NorthStar, Stefy assured me it would be done, and in no time, another woman, Joanna had emailed the necessary invoice and W-9.

Now, about the move…

Immediately, the kindest, cleanest, happy crew ever. After 8 hours, I was sweaty, hungry and not done packing my stuff.

I had some work calls come in while we were packing and a couple other distractions, and while the crew was also tired from moving my heavy Ethan Allen stuff with care, I was now holding them up.

Instead of making me feel bad about it, the crew leader and his team jumped in to help.

Beyond the call of duty. My faith has been restored in the moving industry. Up til now, it’s always been below expectation.

Long review…and I could keep typing.

Amazingly great!  Thank u NorthStar!!

Where to begin? This move has been absolutely wonderful from start to finish! The estimator (Gadi)  who initially came out was very courteous and thorough. His “not to exceed” estimate was one of the best priced quotes I received. He was confident that they would be able to do it in less time than he was estimating.

On the day of the move, David L. (the forman), Jose G., and Jorge V., called when they were on their way and arrived at the very beginning of their window. They looked at everything and began working right away. They insisted that we leave the work to them…they wanted the move to be as easy as possible for us. They were respectful of our belongings, were extremely professional and communicated everything along the way. They truly went above and beyond!

They carefully wrapped everything and moved it with care. They arrived at our new house and unloaded everything just as carefully.

At the end of the day, they got everything done without ANY damage…AND they completed it 2 hours quicker than the estimate!!

I cannot recommend Northstar Movers enough. They are the only company I will use in the future!

Thank you for making this move as pleasant as possible!

I was impressed a few years ago when I used NorthStar Moving to complete my move from Chicago to Irvine so I decided to call them up for my move to Pasadena. The movers came on time and were fast and efficient. I will definitely use them again next time I have to move (but hopefully that won’t be for awhile)!

I used Northstar movers about a year ago. They were very helpful and packaged all my belongings quickly and carefully. They are also an ecofriendly business and I’m always more willing to give money to a charitable corporation. Thanks for making the moving process a little smoother!

I like to move it, move it.

Just kidding… moving sucks.

Or it can suck. A lot. Unless you get people to move your stuff for you. And by people I mean all your current/former football player friends. But if most of your friends are petite, burnt-out graduate students that don’t work out much, you’d instead probably have to pay the professionals to help you. And that’s supposed to be a lot more expensive, right?

I just moved from LA to SF, and hiring movers from NorthStar cost me about the same as what I would have spent to rent a U-Haul truck and move all my crap myself. Yeah.

The specs:

*My rate was based on the “intrastate move” pricing, which means moving more than 100 miles. They also have “local” rates for less than 100 miles. They don’t move to or out of California.

*Intrastate move pricing is a flat rate of $695 for up to 1000 lbs; $1,145 for 2000 lbs, $1595 for 3,000 lbs, etc. Coming from a living situation with two roommates and moving into a smaller place, I was pretty sure beforehand, and turned out to be right, that all the furniture/stuff from my old room that I wanted to move was under 1000 lbs. If not, each additional pound up to 2000 would be 45 cents/lb.

*After booking my reservation with Northstar, I put all my crap in boxes. They came, took a $500 cash deposit from me, took all my boxes, shrink-wrapped all my furniture and took that too, and put it all in a huge-ass truck bound for San Francisco within the next week. I didn’t lift a finger (or box) past my old apartment threshold.

*Less than one week later, they delivered everything up to the Bay Area. The balance–the original quote minus deposit, plus $0.45/lb if exceeding 1000 lbs (I did not)–was due at this point. Aka $195.

*However, we bought a Yelp Deal from the San Francisco Yelp listing–$60 for $150. This saved  us $90, meaning we owed the movers $105 at the end of the service. THAT means, with Northstar, I moved 1000 pounds of my junk 300+ miles for just $605!  (not including tipping the movers of course… PLEASE tip your movers!)

*Compare that to renting a U-Haul truck: ~$500 for two days, plus gas (~$50-$75), plus physical pain/labor and optimal annoyance to you and your friends, plus taking your friends out to dinner for helping you.

Rest assured, you can trust this moving company. The only thing that I think could have been better is that, although they say they will provide 24 hours notice to confirm exact date/times of pickup and dropoff (they initially give you a two-day window for pickup, and week-long window for dropoff), my notice was more like the night before.

Also, if you are moving in or out of a place with flights of stairs, which I know many places in both SF and LA do have, you might be charged extra. This fortunately did not apply to me. I’d check on it when booking your reservation.

In sum: for an intrastate move with up to or around 1000 pounds of stuff, I’ll take NorthStar over moving my own s*** any day.

And the moral of the story: I like to move it, move it.

Movers did a fantastic job. Everything was carefully wrapped and delivered. They were on time and worked hard, even in 90 degree temperatures. Artem, Michael, Rodolfo and Noe were courteous and careful. We  definitely look to Northstar if we relocate again. Thanks!
Francisco , Josue R, Jorge, and Geovany helped me move everything out of my 1br/1ba and they were amazing. They handled everything with care, blanketed all my furniture, taped it down, Saran wrapped it, and then taped again. It was very easy to work with them and I would definitely work with the company/team again! Thanks so much!
These guys are great. We moved from LA to SF. They packed everything very safely and quickly. Everything was wrapped in padding so nothing would get scratched or dented. Very helpful in helping us tape up extra boxes and they also let us borrow some tools. Would highly recommend!
