It’s rather remarkable that they can be world class in their service, world class in their attention to detail, world class in their understanding of what it is like to be in a position of moving, whether you are moving up or down, moving sideways, moving out of the area, and they have empathy, they have professionalism in a level that I don’t think I have ever seen before and they have the ability to make your move as painless, as problem free and as pleasant, and positive as is humanely possible. More importantly, the people behind it are extraordinary in their commitment to really make the experience something very very positively memorable. They dedicate enormous amount of staff, enormous amount of support, enormous amount of pre moving involvement, making certain that the transition you make from house to a house, from a house to an apartment, from an apartment to a house, a house to another part of the country, is the least traumatic and the least stressful it can be. Something that really impresses me about them and it should impress you too is that your peers, other men and woman, in similar situation, who have moved, from all over Los Angeles and have checked out the entire scope of options, alternatives and providers have nominated them as the ultimate, they won more awards, more distinctions, and to peer to peer, judgment which is Yelp, they are runaway, the highest rated, probably more genuine testimonials, more video endorsement, more lavish praise for everything except their prices because their prices are omni competitive. They’re not the premium price provider, but they are the premium provider, in what you want. Attention, concern, support, respect for you, your situation, your furniture, your attitude, your children, your dogs, they have service providers that can take care, everything- they even have dog taken care of, children taken care of, dinner ready, refrigerator restocked, they are rather incredible people. If you don’t seriously, not just check them out, but talk to people who used them, you will be very very sorry, you’ll be sorry because a lot of moves can be traumatic, a lot of moves can be very frustrating, a lot of movers don’t do what they say, come when they say, respect you or your property like they say and the end result is a trauma that lives with you for a long time. I rarely do any kind of testimonial endorsement for anybody, not paid to do this. The only motivation behind me doing this is the urge to help make certain that you make the right decision for yourself, your family, your furniture, your future and your physiological well being. I couldn’t encourage you enough to favor NorthStar Moving with your move. It will be the wisest decision you make in beginning with the new phase of your life. Whether it is here, whether it is out of town, they are exceptional, they are someone that you can absolutely trust. What they say they do. This communication is intended to describe our brilliant experience with Northstar Moving.

In June, the expected (even if unwelcome) announcement was made that our office space had been sold to new owners. Lucky for them, goodbye ocean-view for us. And then, there was the move itself, to arrange.

As if on cue, Ram Katalan and Northstar Moving made our acquaintance. We had a walk-thru for an estimate to move our approximately 1,500 SF space, with typical office components and accessories: desks, computers, file cabinets, couches, tables, chairs, printers, copiers, faxes, paintings, coffee-maker, mugs, doodads, tchotchkes…it was endless. 

And who doesn’t remember packing up their first, small space or office, thinking that setting aside a few boxes and a couple hours “ought-a do it.” AND, your friend with an F-150 owed you a favor. Then, “reality” materialized. Probably several days, dozens of hours and that haunting, self-loathing (for discovering six reams of unused legal paper and a case of coffee stirrers), have left an indelible scar on your psyche. 

Such was the frame of mind. Ram was most nonplussed. 

“We’ll do that. We’ll do that. We’ll do that,” was his refrain to every gesture towards an unwieldy object or over-stuffed cabinet. And they DID. 

The crew came, assessed, packed and moved it all in a day. No muss, no fuss, and best of all, no damage. Just like they said. 

All the while, I kept expecting an unwelcome surprise, an unexpected complication – didn’t happen. 
Having been the veteran of a number of personal and professional moves, I’m qualified to say that Northstar Moving has been the best experience I’ve had.

We recently moved from Los Angeles to the east coast. My company paid for everything so we had to do diligent research and cost comparisons. Not only did Northstar come in with the best bid, but they also had the best customer service ever. Everyone from Gadi on down rolled up their sleeves and helped! We had nearly 500 items (boxes)!! 99.9 % of everything arrived intact and complete. What more can you ask for? I shudder at the concept of ever moving again, but if I had to do it again, there’s no doubt who I would use, NorthStar Moving.
Can highly recommend them from first move with NorthStar Moving Corporation, which did a fantastic job. From phone receptionist to estimator to movers, everyone was very polite, friendly and professional. No razzmatazz or mover gimmicks, just plain solid dependable moving company. This was a short move about 3 miles away, from Mar Vista to Venice.

Estimates and contracts were clear and efficient (emailed). They arrived early allowing us an extra 10 minutes to review the documents. Their estimate was less than what Meathead Movers quoted me, although NorthStar’s estimate on my volume and truck space needed was nearly double the other. (Always read the backside fine print of any moving contact very carefully!)

No money down, easy cancelation policy, and payment by VISA after unloading accepted.

But be ready when the come! The gung-ho movers jumped right in while I was still packing the last boxes, and things started to move faster than I had control over about what went with them and what went with me. However, it was satisfying–if not surprising– to see the wall of boxes it took me weeks to create dismantled and out in minutes.  4 moving men for about 70 boxes, 1000 square ft. 2BR was just right to finish just under 6 hours.

Of course  the very minimum of 1 slightly scraped piece of furniture and a couple scuffs on the wall were normal enough to be expected. (I did acquire additional insurance because I have antique pieces I didn’t want covered standard by the pound.)

The extra wardrobe boxes they brought at no additional charge really help for the last of the clothing and last minute, odd-sized ‘stuff’. I regret that they did charged me an extra $11 for one of their dish pack boxes to pad-pack a leaded glass window, when I had my own large unused cartons laying around they could have used. But no complaints.

The greatest joy of all, was to learn that ‘by chance’ all four of my moving men were faith-filled believing Christians–one who had just gotten saved that morning. Which allowed us to take take when all was said and done to pray for and bless one another.

We had NorthStar recommended to us by some friends who had used them for a move on the west side of LA. We called for a quote, and Ron came to our house and gave us a quote well under what we had expected to pay. We were thrilled by the quoted price. On the day of the move, three guys showed up and had our whole house packed in three hours, at the new house a half hour later, and unpacked into the right rooms in another three hours. The whole move was done in under 7 hours, which saved us an hour of quoted labor costs – so the bill came in UNDER even what Ron had quoted us. The movers were fast, courteous and experience, and I’d definitely use NorthStar again.
I found NorthStar Moving on Yelp when I was planning a local move in the San Fernando valley. The reviews were positive, so I decided to take a chance. I was glad I did! Ron Cohen, my relocation specialist, did a great job of helping me plan the move, explained the process, and provided an accurate estimate up front that I felt was very fair. We planned my move as a two-day move, with a pack on the first day and the actual move on the second. On the packing day, the packing crew arrived, professionally dressed and on time, and after introducing themselves and my signing the paperwork, they immediately got underway. I was totally floored by how quickly, carefully and expertly they could pack a large filled residence. What would have taken me a month, they did in about 6 hours. Everything got plenty of protection, padding, paper, blankets, stretch-wrap, etc. They were conservative and used extra materials to make absolutely sure my fragile stuff would be safe. Every single one of them worked nonstop, diligently and with care. I don’t know where they get the energy – I was exhausted just watching them! Ron had arranged in advance for my couch, bed and a few necessities to remain unpacked until the next morning, so I didn’t have to get a hotel room. Very cool! On the moving day, the same crew arrived, again professionally dressed and on time, and they got underway immediately. Again, I have no idea where these guys get so much energy. Without any delays, they carefully and expertly moved all my boxes, furniture, everything out to the truck, and were very careful in the way they packed the truck and where they put certain extra-fragile items. In no time at all, my residence was empty! They told me they would meet me at my new house – I had to do an errand first and would meet them there shortly. While I was doing my errand, I got a call from the driver – there was a delay on the highway ahead (massive traffic pileup) and he was diverting to side streets, and suggested I do the same. I mention this because it was a really nice thing for him to do, saving me from getting stuck in traffic. When we all arrived at the new house, the moving crew did an expert job of moving all of our stuff in. They set up the bed, helped us move furniture where we wanted it, super helpful! When it was all done, we tallied up the bill, and the total was slightly less than what was quoted me! That was a nice surprise. I felt that everyone at NorthStar did a very professional job throughout my move, from Ron Cohen, who managed the whole experience and made it go smoothly from beginning to end, to the crew lead, who expertly led the packing and moving, to the packers and movers who packed and taped and moved the boxes and furniture. This was a hassle-free, relaxing and pleasurable move at a fair price – an extraordinary value.
