I can’t believe a moving company has great service and timeliness. I’m rather amazed. I’ve moved quite a bit in the past 5 years and have always been wary of moving companies – I’ve had mixed results, siding mostly with the “not so good.” It doesn’t seem that customers ever get a good value with moving companies! But thankfully, NorthStar was great to work with. I first spoke with Jessica, a customer service rep. Through her, I got a general quote but decided I wanted a binding quote. So, she scheduled an onsite visit at my apartment with Ron Cohen…who, I am guessing is the regional director or the main boss-man. He was on time, efficient, and helpful. He also made sure I received all the discounts that were available. We agreed on a fair price. My move was fairly small but I was going from Irvine, CA to Seattle, WA…I doubt they made much money on me but they were still attentive and helpful. Long-distance moves are sometimes stressful but NorthStar did a good job at alleviating some of my worries. The movers came to pick up my stuff on a Wednesday and they wrapped my flat-screen and glass desk top with care and attention. I haven’t unwrapped the two things yet but nothing is jiggling…the packaging seems sturdy! My things were delivered about 5 days later on June 18th, 2012 – faster than I expected. My things live in storage right now but it seems that I got everything and I will be able to unwrap and unbox once I settle in. So far so good!
I was really worried about selecting a moving company for a relocation from SF to Miami. My main concern was the price and the quality of the move, after reading a lot of comments about various moving companies online, who trick customers into cheap price and then raise it or delivery furniture in bad condition. Long story short, NorthStar delivered beyond expectations on both the price and the quality of the move. First, the price was VERY competitive with three other movers I was looking into. NorthStar was willing to match / beat prices from competitors who looked way dodgier. I got a flat price for my move and didn’t pay a cent more after the initial estimate by the guy who came over to review the size of the move. Second, the move was super easy. The pick up guys came as expected and did a fabulous job. Then, the delivery was earlier than expected – it took them around 10 calendar days to deliver, and they were very accommodating to my schedule (which basically allowed only one day option for delivery due to my travel plans). The driver called me ahead of time and made sure I was good with the delivery time. Finally, NorthStar is VERY good about making sure you are happy. Everything arrived in prime condition except for a little part of a TV stand that was lost somewhere along the way (it was literally a couple of screws, but I couldn’t put my TV because of that). However, NorthStar told me I can order the missing part and they would reimburse me for that. Which they did promptly (even the shipping price, which was high as I’ve asked for next day UPS delivery). Overall, I am very happy with the move. From Ted Tindall who oversaw the move virtually, to JC Sala who did the estimate, to the guys who picked up and delivered my shipment, that was a thoroughly pleasant experience. I will definitely turn to NorthStar for any future relocation needs, and will recommend to all my friends. One additional piece of advise – make sure you pack all your belongings ahead of the move. You will save a lot and make the process easier. NorthStar will pack big / bulky items for you as well as any furniture, but you should take care of clothing / kitchen items / etc…
I recently moved from Los Angeles to the Portland, Oregon area (Beaverton, Oregon, to be specific). NorthStar was recommended to me by my realtor who had several clients use the company before. I am a Yelper, and looked them up myself. Nothing but good word-of-mouth. So, I went for it, and it was the right decision. It was actually cheaper than any of the other do-it-yourself services that I was looking into. We worked together on the price, and I think we received an amazing deal. We had a ton of stuff to move. They did all of the work; I had no idea how much work it would be. Both the old and new house are 3 levels. They had a huge crew move everything fast and carefully within a few hours at each end. I was surprised at the time, care, and materials they put into making sure that everything was moved carefully. They supplied us with some of the boxes and packing material to get us started. I had no idea how much stuff we had! They told me not to stress if we couldn’t pack it all up ourselves. It ended up that when they got there, they actually helped us pack a lot of our stuff up for no extra cost. I could not believe how they wrapped up the furniture! They used a ton of moving blankets and plastic wrap. Nothing got scratched or broken. Again, it was surprising for how many boxes and pieces of furniture we had that everything made it over 1,000 miles with no damage. It took us 2 days to drive up to Oregon, and we barely beat them. They got it all up here fast and safely. Very courteous crew. Very friendly and efficient. It was my first moving experience and I was very impressed. I was also glad that I didn’t attempt it myself. Sometimes the only way is to hire someone, and NorthStar was the right company for sure. They even called me to make sure everything was there and that there was no damage. How many companies would do that? I am so happy and satisfied, I could go on and on! I very highly recommend them. Look no further!

These guys are fabulous.  I hired them to get me from Sherman Oaks to Venice, and I was blown away by the professionalism and quickness with which they treated me.  I hate moving, and the fact that I didn’t feel that oh-so-familiar feeling of wanting to bash my head against the wall repeatedly during moving day speaks VOLUMES about this company. 

I had my moving day set up by a girl named Jessica.  Oh Jessica, fair maiden of Northstar Moving Co. and savior of all hard working people of Los Angeles who dread moving from one home to another, how do I thank you for all the pleasant and courteous mannerisms you bestowed upon me when I called Northstar for help?  I CAN’T. ='( I just can’t, because no amount of gratitude will ever equal the service you have provided me.

We recently moved from Los Angeles to the east coast. My company paid for everything so we had to do diligent research and cost comparisons. Not only did Northstar come in with the best bid, but they also had the best customer service ever. Everyone from Gadi on down rolled up their sleeves and helped! We had nearly 500 items (boxes)!! 99.9 % of everything arrived intact and complete. What more can you ask for? I shudder at the concept of ever moving again, but if I had to do it again, there’s no doubt who I would use, NorthStar Moving.
northstar moving was great from start to finish. we were moving from la to colorado and called lynn to set up an estimate appointment with ron. ron was professional and gave us an exact estimate which did not run $1 over despite us adding a few more items day of. the movers properly packed up everything and everything arrived on time, perfectly packed, and was unloaded quickly upon arrival. the entire staff was great and the long distance crew was great as well. highly highly recommend this moving company, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my moves!

Just moved from Phoenix, AZ to the San Francisco Bay Area. This was a massive move (16,000 pounds, 500 items) and NorthStar arrived with driver and four-member crew as promised. Wrapped and packed all belongings with care and worked to nightfall without stopping. When the semi rolled away, I felt confident my belongings would arrive on the other end in good shape. When the crew arrived in the Bay Area, it was a relief to see the same driver, Ben, and foreman, Mike Taylor, were in charge. They got the truck unloaded without a problem. This move was unexpected and had to happen within a window of time. Sam Rothshield in Operations at NorthStar made it happen. This is my second good experience with NorthStar. In 2003, I had moved from L.A. to Phoenix with them, and they were excellent. I recommend them for long hauls and big moves.
