We recently used NorthStar movers for a local move. I was absolutely thrilled with this company from beginning to end. Before we booked them, Ilan Dahan came to the house I was moving from to provide an estimate. With a local move, not many companies send a representative to give in-home estimates so off the bat, I was impressed that they did this. He went over the entire estimate point by point, thereby eliminating any worry about the “fine print”. He also guaranteed that the actual cost would not exceed the estimate, which was great considering this is where other movers tend to screw you over. The day of the move I was blown away by the crew of workmen. They arrived at 8:00 on the dot (window was between 8:00 and 9:00) and they got right to work. I was so impressed by their speed and efficiency. Though they worked fast, they still handled all of my furniture with care. Not one item was broken or damaged in the move. They re-assembled my son’s crib and bedroom furniture and any other items that had been disassembled at the house we moved from. From beginning to end I was 100% satisfied with Northstar and with Ilan. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I will use them again for any future move.

Moved from Long Beach to Huntington Beach – did my homework, checked out ratings on BBB, read reviews on Yelp, got 3 companies to come out and give an onsite written estimate, reviewed all 3 very carefully – not just for price or contract details, but more to see how accurate and realistic the estimate was for the number of boxes I would most likely to move, etc. I chose NorthStar and I am very, very happy that I did!!! Ron came out and did a very careful and realistic estimate, was good on the pricing (remember it is not always how far you move, but how much you have to move – and I had pleanty of stuff, including a lot of 1930’s Art Deco Furniture). They did not require a down payment, gave me a “not-to-exceed’ price and called to follow-up and confirm the move. Oh, and none of this pay-us before-we-unload-your-furnture malarky, that some companies do. I paid when everything was done and I was satisfied. Sounds good so far, but wait. The day of the move they showed up an hour early (great for me), and my movers (Eliseo, Carrillo and the “new guy” that had just started with them) were WONDERFUL. I can not say enough about how hard working, fast and careful they were. They never took a break, were pleasant, professional and did not break, scratch or lose anything. They finished two hours sooner then estimated, saving me money. Now mind you, I am a damn good packer, everybox was packed, labled and stacked ready to go (they were impressed), but the rest was on them. They moved my fragil vintage furniture with care, wrapping everything, breakingdown my platform bed (and reassembling it at the new place), taking good care of my two flat screens, glass table tops and shelvings. Plus at the new place, there was brand new carpet and without even being asked they rolled the dolly only as far as the tile entry and then unloaded it by hand so that they wouldn’t get the carpet messed up. Really, great experience, Thanks to all of the Northstar team: Ron, Eliseo, Carrillo and “the New Guy”. While I hope I don’t move again any time soon, I will definitly call them when I do.
I don’t usually write comments but after the service I received from Northstar Moving it was a must. Northstar and especially Gadi were and absolute pleasure to work with. They showed up on time and were very professional and attentive to detail. When Gadi and his crew arrived they immediately went to work on moving our belongings. At the same time they took care of our personal belongings as if it was their own. If you are moving and need reliable movers this is the only place you will need to call. I thought that it would take hours to move our apartment. I was amazed on how fast they got everything to their moving truck and on the way to our new apartment. Once they got to our new apartment they were very kind and asked where we wanted everything to be placed. This was the easiest move I have ever had to do. Well thanks to Gadi that is. If I ever move again I know exactly who to call and get the job done right. Thank you for all your help.
Damn moving sucks. Moving sucks even more in the rain. Yes I picked the worst day of the YEAR to move, just my luck. But I’m so happy it’s over, and I have to give props to the young, tres amigos from this moving company, as well as Samantha from the management office. Professional, courteous, respectful, speedy, helpful, etc. they were great and I can’t think of how it could have been any better. Tip: mention yelp and get 5% off. pay cash and save an additional 3%.

After having just moved 9 months earlier with a ‘cheapie’ moving company that cost me a lot of stress, I found North Star on YELP! yeah. Jason in the office took my info and followed up 2 days before the move. They fit me in for a morning move which was great and the crew arrived right on time Sunday morning 8:15 am with 3 men. Clean and courteous. Eliseo was the forman and kept things moving, and the 2 Julios, driver and crew members. It was a holiday weekend so timing was tight but I’m glad I used North Star and will definitely use them again. However I do not plan on moving again any time soon!!! The also gave a 5% discount when you mention you found them on YELP. every bit helps!

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful and professional service that we received from every employee at your company that assisted us with our very large and complicated office space reduction move.

It all began when I called your company several weeks ago to see if someone could come out and give us a quote for the project and that is when I met Ilan Dahan. I was so very impressed with his professional behavior and knowledge for what our needs were and he really seemed to care about what our organization was about and showed compassion for our mission. Compared to the other moving companies that we received bids from, llan took the time to visit us yet again and do an even more thorough walk through of our entire office to ensure that nothing was overlooked. Myself and my direct supervisor were even further impressed when we received the detailed quote which listed absolutely everything! It really showed us what your company was all about. When I spoke to you and llan over the phone, you both showed so much compassion and were so dedicated to helping us that I knew we had to use you for our project. It wasn’t just about saving money – it was about really making that connection and knowing that you weren’t just going to come and “move” our stuff around but really take the time to listen and help us with what we needed.

When the project started, myself and my department were so nervous because we knew the magnitude of this project and didn’t really know what to expect, but as soon as we met Nick and his crew, we were almost immediately at ease. They were all such a pleasure to work with and although we had them move some things around a couple of times, they never complained, not once. They were all so nice about everything and not to mention fast llan mentioned that they were fast but this was just ridiculously fast, which I completely appreciated.

I just wanted to take a few minutes of your time to once again express my gratitude and appreciation and to thank you for understanding that we are a not-for-profit organization that needs every penny we raise to offer free programs and services to cancer patients and their families. I will absolutely keep you in mind for any future projects no matter how big or how small and will let our other units know as well.

NorthStar Moving Recommendation Letter

(NorthStar ref #411313 After using NorthStar for the first time on 10/30/10, I did not hesitate to use them again – believe it or not – 2 weeks later. (See my first review for NorthStar dated 11/3/10) 11 days after my daughter was in her new place, (a condo she was renting), an overhead pipe burst, spraying hot water, for an hour, into, and flooding her unit with a couple inches of water. (Long story short: someone who should not have been doing repairs on her central air – who was hired by the owner – screwed up and hit a pipe which had been poorly repaired previously) Anyway….she had to move, again. And unfortunately, she lost some of her belongings, lots of books, some wooden furniture, a couple of floor mats that floated away….. She found an apartment available “immediately” nearby, I flew out, from Chicago to LA, again. We were able to get her packed up, moved and unpacked in 4 days. I called Jason at NorthStar on Mon. 11/ 15 told him briefly what happened, and scheduled a move for Wed. 11/17. We were all set. Then Tuesday, I emailed him, and asked him if there was anyway, or anyone who could find it in their heart, to give me some sort of discount since I had just used them, and I had the unexpected expense of flying back out to LA for move #2. Jason was able to plead my case to his manager, and reduce the hourly rate. So thank you to Jason, and your manager. I appreciated that. Also, once again, I want to say thanks to Jesus Mezal, and his crew, Benjamin and Ozzy. I had the pleasure of having Jesus and Ozzy for the first move. Let me tell you, when I saw that they had sent Jesus for this move, I had to laugh. but I was also thrilled because I knew this move would be just as efficient as the first. As stressful as this move was, it helped to have Jesus there running the show, again, with a smile on his face the entire time. Thank you to everyone who helped us through this tough time!
