Hey everyone, it’s Claire! How’s life treating you all? I know it’s been a while. I’ve been using my free time before school starts up again in the fall to travel to all the places I have longed to explore. I got to see London and its old cobblestone streets. Spain and its turquoise beaches. Amsterdam and its glistening canals. I made it to New York right as spring began to make its mark on the city; all the trees were blossoming and lining the streets with pink and white flowers.
Get Moving from Pier to Pier
2016 is turning out to be a good year for the Foundation as well! We’ve been able to help a whole bunch of families in the past few months through some of the most challenging weeks of their lives. Having started the foundation at such a young age I’ve had the chance to watch it grow along side me and I feel like a proud momma! We have another event coming up that, like any proud momma, I must share with everyone.
This July is our second annual Glow Ride for Claire’s Place Foundation. Get ready to glow up, and light the way from pier to pier! The event will be taking place July 16 at the Hermosa Beach pier. You can skate, bike, walk or skip from Hermosa pier to Manhattan Beach pier and back. The best part is you will be glowing the whole way there! There will be glow sticks, bracelets, glasses and more being distributed throughout the event. It’s up to you to make your bike, or yourself, stand out amongst the crowd.
Show Up and Glow Up
Arrive early at 6pm to give yourself time to get fully glowed up before we take off into the sunset. Don’t have a bike or skates? No problem. The event is sponsored by Hermosa Cyclery so you can pop over and rent a bike for the night. A hundred percent of the proceeds from your bike renting and ticket purchase go directly to supporting families dealing with Cystic Fibrosis.
Most families don’t have the financial means to take off work for weeks or months at a time while their child is in the hospital, and that is where we come in. The Claire’s Place Foundation gives families the financial support they need to be with their children and give them the love and comfort they need to properly recover. As someone who has been in the hospital more times than I can count, I know how important this is for both the patients and families.
There are other ways to help if you find you simply can’t make it to the event. You can donate to the event, purchase a Moonlight Glow Ride glow-in-the-dark shirt, sponsor, or fundraise for the campaign to support the event from anywhere in the world!
