Cupcakes. They’re mini cakes filled with magic and so much goodness. They’re small and taste so delicious. They’re so satisfying that you want to eat endless amounts of it, but you know better because your stomach will hurt otherwise. If you have a sweet tooth, Los Angeles is the place to be. We have some of the best cupcake bakeries in the area.
Sprinkles
When we talk about Sprinkles in LA, we aren’t talking about the toppings you add to your ice cream, cake or cupcake. We’re talking about the trendy cupcake store that has Angelenos going crazy for their desserts. They have many flavors to choose from such as: vanilla, coconut, lemon meringue and even vegan red velvet cupcakes. But, wait there’s more! Sprinkles is so thoughtful about our furry friends that they have created a cupcake just for your dog. It’s called the doggie cupcake, and it’s a sugar-free cupcake with yogurt “frosting.”
We’ve become so obsessed with these pastries that you can now find them throughout LA such as at The Grove or The Americana. Some of their locations even have a machine that dispenses their delicious cupcakes. Sprinkles calls it “Cupcake ATM”. There’s even one inside of the bookstore at USC.
Porto’s
Located in Burbank, Glendale and Downey, Porto’s is one of those places you wish would multiply into every neighborhood. They’re just too delicious! Known for their exquisite café and bakery, this Cuban restaurant will have your mouth watering the moment you step inside. They have a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches and drinks to choose from. Throughout the year, Porto’s will make cupcakes according to the holiday of that month. With the winter festivities coming up, it’s about to have the Holiday Strawberry Cupcake in stock. It is made of white yogurt cake with strawberry buttercream frosting, as well as white chocolate shavings on top. You can choose either mini or regular sized cupcakes. Regardless of the size, each bite is full of tastiness.
Joan’s on Third
Joan’s on Third got its name when it first opened on Third Street in LA. Since then, they’ve opened another spot in Studio City. It has become famous for their salads and sandwiches, but mostly for their cupcakes. They might not have a huge selection of cupcake flavors to choose from, but trust me they’re all worth it. You can try a bite of chocolate, vanilla, coconut, chocolate with coconut and red velvet. Many fans (including myself) have been curious to know what makes these vanilla cupcakes so good. Thankfully, Joan was kind enough to provide the recipe to the Los Angeles Times that way we can make the cupcakes at home.
