March is in full swing, and by now you’ve probably got only one thing on your mind: Basketball. March Madness is that magical time of year when families and loved ones can get together, set aside their differences, and yell at the rival team that is beating their team by 30 points. During halftime you’ve gotta do something to keep yourself focused. Why not try these ideas the old college try?
March Madness Recipes
If you’re tired of all the grease and fat that is currently dominating your snack list roster, try some of these healthy (or at least healthier) alternatives! Instead of those cheesy potato skins, why not try some sweet potato skins with cheddar and guacamole? It may not seem like much of a difference, but those taters get a lot healthier if you make them sweeter. Thinking of subbing in the spinach dip for something else? Give that new kid, hummus, a whirl. Serve with carrots and pita bread to make your March Madness party a slam dunk!
March Madness for Kids
Need something to do for the kids, or just something to take your mind off of the non-stop basketball? Hold a tournament of books! Time to read up on all those books you’ve been telling yourself you’ll read, but never do. Not only will you feel better about whittling down that to-read list, but you can get other people in on the fun as well. Whether you’re doing it for the kids, or just doing it for yourself, try doing something to make things different. Last year I chose books from different genres and pitted them against each other for the battle royale of the century!
