Although we encourage donating any time of year, the holiday spirit just makes me want to give back even more! With Black Friday done and Cyber Monday getting into full swing, you may be finding amazing deals that you could never take advantage of. After all, who really needs that 75% off Barney doll when you don’t have any children? The answer is charities. Come with me as we explore my favorite charities and organizations!
Donating to Karma Rescue
I love love LOVE dogs. If you do too, then Karma Rescue is the place for you! Not a dog person? That’s okay, too! Karma Rescue has recently started sheltering adoptable kitty cats. This non-profit organization devotes itself to finding forever homes for animals in need. They also provide support for successful integration from shelter to home life for both the pet and the family. You can support Karma Rescue by donating money, food, supplies or by giving your time. Even better, if you are able, you can adopt a new fur-ever friend!
Donating to Miller Children’s Hospital Child Life Program
The Child Life Program at Miller Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit program. Child Life helps children who are being treated at the hospital feel normal. They try to help children feel more comfortable about their new settings by explaining to them what different things do, and how the doctors are treating them in ways that are easy for a child to understand. Donating to this organization means that the Child Life program can give out toys, craft supplies and other support items to children during their hospital stay.
Donating to Claire’s Place Foundation
What better way to end this than to support my most favorite charity, Claire’s Place Foundation! Claire’s Place is a non-profit organization that provides support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). Donating to this charity means that you can provide both emotional and financial support to those currently living with CF. Claire, the namesake of the foundation, lives with CF, and gives motivational speaking events to spread the word about CF and build support for the fight against it.
