Let’s Send Hunger Packing: Second Annual Summer Food Drive

Summer Food DriveSummertime is finally here! You know what my favorite part of summer is? The yummy food! BBQs, fresh fruit… Mmmm!  Sadly, not everyone gets to enjoy my favorite part of summer. In Los Angeles County, almost 700,000 children are living in food-insecure homes. That’s the most children in need of basic nutrition of any county. And, did you know that 1 in 5 kids in Orange County are at risk of being hungry every day? Thinking of how many children go to bed without food every day is devastating.

That’s why I’m excited to tell you that NorthStar Moving® and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage have teamed up again, with the support of Move For Hunger, to host the second annual Let’s Send Hunger Packing Summer Food Drive! From June 16 to August 15, you can donate food to hungry kids at 34 Coldwell Banker locations across Los Angeles County and Orange County. Donations will also be accepted at NorthStar Moving headquarters (9120 Mason Ave., Chatsworth, California). Using our big red NorthStar Moving trucks, we’ll pick up and deliver the food donations to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Last year we raised 4,556 pounds of food for hungry kids. Let’s all pitch in and make it even more this year!

NorthStar Moving will award the winning offices, one in each county, with their choice of either lunch for the entire staff or a $1000.00 donation to the food bank in their name. You can donate at the following Coldwell Banker offices (click on the image to see a larger version you can magnify):

Even if you can’t get moving to these Coldwell Banker offices, you can also help out by donating through the Coldwell Banker Community Foundation. Did you know it only takes $5 to feed a child for a day?

Wondering what to donate to send hunger packing? Here’s a checklist to make it easy:
