Oscar night: the glamorous evening where the world’s eyes are on Hollywood. It’s important to have fun when you throw a viewing party, but it’s also important to keep moving forward with your New Year’s resolutions at your Oscar party. Don’t let the temptation of movie stars and chocolate Oscar statuettes steer you off course! Choose healthy treats wherever possible, and don’t do anything you promised you wouldn’t when it was still January. Here’s how I’m having an Oscar viewing party:
Oscar Games
There are lots of fun Oscar games you can play. For instance, check out our fun poll at the bottom! Who do YOU think will take home Oscar night’s biggest prize? If you want to play games in person at your Oscar party, here are a few cool ideas:
Wear your best clothes, just like the stars on the red carpet. You can even elect one guest to be color commentator and decide who’s best dressed. Award a prize for the winner! Don’t want to dress up in finery? Make it a Worst Dressed List party! Everyone wears their most comfortable, slobby outfit, and the worst dressed wins!
You can print out a ballot and have your guests choose the winners! Give out prizes according to who guesses the most correct Oscar wins.
Prefer games of chance? Try this version of Oscar predictions where your guests each get a random envelope with different potential winners inside. As the Oscar is presented, everyone cracks open their envelope, hoping it matches!
Fashion forward? Print out pictures of famous Oscar Red Carpet fashion and place cut out stars over the faces. Everyone guesses who wore what dress. The winner receives a 1 year subscription to the fashion or pop culture magazine of their choice.
Oscar Swag
Create a gift bag full of Oscar treats for your guests! Fill it with more affordable versions of what the stars will be getting this year on Oscar Sunday.
Instant Oscar Statue: You can create some of these cool Oscar statues to use as decorations or party favors, OR you can treat your guests to a little DIY fun where they can make their own Oscar statues!
Another great Oscar night decoration: a red carpet leading up your driveway! The Oscar red carpet doesn’t have to be durable, however. Buy (or re-use!) a large strip of red fabric from a crafting store.
Oscar Food
Food is an important part of any Oscar viewing party. I always recommend locally sourced fruits and vegetables (and lots of ‘em!), but to make your Oscar gathering extra special, try these Oscar friendly treats:
Adorable Oscar night popcorn cupcakes are cute and easier to make than you might think! If you aren’t crafty in the kitchen, an easy Oscar night snack is a bag of fresh air-popped popcorn.
Or, give a silver screen Oscar spin to all your recipes. For instance, try one of these amazing Brussels sprouts dishes, but call it the American Hustle Sprouts. This delicious loaf cake transforms into The Loaf of Wall Street Cake. Instant Oscar party food!
What are your Oscar predictions? Take our poll, or tell us about them in the comments!
