Author Extraordinaire Claire

Hi guys, it’s Claire! How are you all doing? I’ve got some exciting news about a book that’s coming out soon! I’m an avid reader, and I’ve always been a reader. Really I just love writing and literature. Now I am pretty comfortable speaking, but writing is something that I love and work at to improve. When someone acknowledges that, I feel honored, and that’s why this news is so amazing. I got featured in Stand Up! a book about young activists changing the world!

Every Breath I Take: Surviving and Thriving with Cystic Fibrosis

First, let’s recap a bit. Last January, my book Every Breath I Take: Surviving and Thriving with Cystic Fibrosis became an Amazon bestseller in its category! A while ago, I had a friend who is a ghost writer which basically means he writes books for people who don’t really know how to write, and his daughter wanted to help out with the books. I’ve known them for a very long time, and I wanted to do something good and write down my story. I just wanted something so people can understand how the foundation came about and why I’m doing what I’m doing.

Every Breath I TakeBeing friends, Chynna Levin offered to help for free. It was all in my own words, but over a series of multiple phone calls and meetings, she put the paragraphs in order. She handled the publishing and getting a book cover, and really it was a team effort. She is only 12 years old, and now she can say that she helped out with actually publishing a book! That’s great for her, and I get to tell my story!

So now, it’s a major success. Everyone who reads it gets something out of it, and that’s all I’ve wanted. I’ve always wanted to share my story and go into detail, because my life is very fascinating. Whether it’s good or bad, it’s definitely interesting and that’d be good to share. Now for the current exciting news!

Stand Up!: 75 Young Activists Who Rock the World, And How You Can, Too!

I am super super excited for this! I got accepted into a book about young activists changing the world! I wrote it when I was kind of sick and out of it. I thought, oh, I’ll just type my own stuff. It’ll be short and sweet, but I ended up getting really into it. I told an abbreviated version of my story. I wasn’t expecting to make it, but out of tons and tons of entries mine did! There were only 75 who made it, and there were a BUNCH who wrote in so that was incredible for me! It’s always amazing to me when people choose my work or my story.

Everyone should get to share their story whether they think it’s important or not. I got something out of a psychology today article that has nothing to do with my life! You have no idea who is going to get something out of your story or out of what you have to say.  Whether it’s through writing or speaking or just being an artist, it’s important to share our stories, our emotions, and ourselves. I have really beautiful platforms to share my story, and I just feel like the book is going to be one of those platforms. Whether it’s a good deal or not, it’s a way to share my story and who I am, and I think that’s just fantastic.

Here’s a preview:

“When you think hospital, what comes to mind? White walls, beeping, death? Well, all those things are there if you choose to see them, but what about friendship? Music? Art? Life? Those things are all there too, you just have to be willing to search them out.” – Claire Wineland, Author, Stand Up!

It’s coming out on Sept 17th, but you can preorder your copy here. Everyone look out for Stand Up!
