It’s that time of year again, October which means Halloween! Time for orange pumpkins, fall colors all around, and black cats. Traditionally Halloween is orange, but this year, let’s green Halloween. There’s no better way to celebrate your Halloween than with an awesome green Halloween costume party. So here’s some awesome ideas to have a great green Halloween party!
Green Halloween Costumes
If you’re having a green Halloween party, it has to be a costume party! A great green Halloween idea is a costume swap! Saturday, October 13 is National Costume Swapping Day! Check out sites like greenhalloween.com or look around for local costume swapping parties.
If you’re not a fan of costume swapping, consider making a costume out of the clothes you already own. If you have to buy clothes for your green Halloween costume, be sure to buy clothes that’ll be useful long after Halloween has passed.
There’s also tons of costumes you can make out of cardboard or other green materials too. A cardboard box can be anything if you use a little creativity. Zippy, Sparkle, and I like to use eco-bubble to create our costumes. Sparkle and I went as mermaids last year, and Zippy always goes as a super hero in his eco-bubble costume. Check out some of these awesome cardboard costume creations.
At the end of the night, give out green Halloween awards for the most creative costume, best homemade costume, best use of cardboard in a costume!
Green Halloween Party Treats
What’s a green Halloween party without sweets? In the spirit of Halloween, have organic candy and honey sticks in lieu of tradition candies as snacks. Maybe bake up some yummy pumpkin pie treats and decorate them with a Halloween theme.
Purchase locally grown pumpkins from a nearby market. Make sure to utilize each part of the pumpkin. Make some tasty treats like salted pumpkin seeds or even making a pumpkin pie (if you’ve got the time.) Check out some of these awesome ideas for pumpkin dishes!
Consider making a feast of vegetarian food for your green Halloween party! I’ve got loads of vegetarian recipes you can use for your green Halloween party! It’ll be the yummiest green Halloween party ever!
