Nowadays, it’s cool to be green! Most people try hard to go green especially college students! In fact, most graduates nowadays are green! Everyone here at NorthStar would like to say congratulations to all the green graduates out there! Time for that hard work to finally pay off by receiving your green degree! What’s next though? A party to celebrate your accomplishments and hard work! And the only way to celebrate a graduation from start to finish is the green way!
A Green Graduation Ceremony
Have you considered talking to your school about getting an eco-friendly cap and gown for the ceremony? There are several different companies who now produce cap and gowns that can break down and be recycled unlike the polyester and cloth versions that just hang in your closet. Oak Hall makes caps and gowns out of recycled bottles! You can also consider sending out your invitations to graduation by email to save on paper, but if you want a traditional invitation, use recycled paper. A green graduation is that easy!
A Green Graduation Party
After the green graduation ceremony and all is said and done, it’s time to celebrate your accomplishments and hard work! And there’s no better way than throwing a green graduation party!
- Print your own invitations on recycled paper. That way you can design it just the way you want experimenting with font and colors and be green at the same time!
- Instead of using paper plates and plastic silverware, consider using rented plates from a company. While getting plastic recyclable plates seems like a good idea, they usually end up in the trash.
- Instead of using individual bottles, use a cooler with large drink containers as long as people aren’t excessive with plastic cup usage.
- Serve organic food. Make sure to include some vegetarian and vegan options just in case. (I’ve got some great vegetarian recipes!)
- Take advantage of sunny skies or warmer evenings for an outdoor green graduation party to save electricity.
