Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2014 — NorthStar Moving® Company, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, announced today that their second annual “Let’s Send Hunger Packing” summer food drive competition in partnership with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and with the support of Move for Hunger, raised 8,109 pounds of food to feed hungry children in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
“August is often the time of lowest food donations,” said Barbara Wartman of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. “So we really appreciate all that the teams at NorthStar Moving and Coldwell Banker have done to help us feed the hungry, especially in this time of scarcity.”
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices in LA County and Orange County have been competing for two months to collect the most food donations for their local food bank. NorthStar Moving has tallied the collected food for each office and is very pleased to announce the winners. The second annual “Food Donation Heroes” that collected the most food in their county are Beverly Hills South for Los Angeles County and Mission Viejo for Orange County. NorthStar Moving will award each of the winning offices with their choice of either: lunch for the entire staff or a $1000.00 donation to the food bank in their name.
“Our entire sales force came together stronger than ever to participate in this food drive and we’re so proud to be involved in this important cause,” said Jeff Culbertson, executive vice president, Southwest region, NRT, LLC, for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “We had a lot of fun challenging ourselves on this competition. For us, it wasn’t about being ‘Food Donation Heroes,’ but about turning August around for the food bank and making it a time of abundant food donations.”
NorthStar Moving also awarded Kimberly Kingsbury of Coldwell Banker Concierge with the “Super Volunteer” award for making this food drive partnership possible, as well as for her dedication, enthusiasm and tireless work to collect donations to feed hungry kids.
“I am so grateful for the participation of all the wonderful folks at Coldwell Banker and our community. Together with our team at NorthStar Moving and the amazing team at Coldwell Banker we raised 8,109 lbs. of food which is more than 3,500 pounds than last year and means this year we raised 6,487 meals!,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “I am beyond thrilled that we surpassed our donations from last year and I know we can continue on this upward climb to send hunger packing. But, just because this summer’s food drive is over, doesn’t mean you can’t go online and donate directly to your local food bank. Together, we will send Hunger Packing all year long!
NorthStar Moving delivered all of the food donated in Los Angeles County to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and all of the food donated in Orange County to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
