Just Say “No” To Helping Friends Move
Wondering how to politely avoid these awkward and exhausting requests, I asked Laura McHolm for some ideas. Laura is the co-founder of NorthStar Moving and has this advice:
Me: When a friend asks you to help them move, how can you politely excuse yourself?
Laura: You might say, “Wow, you have such wonderful stuff, I would hate to see anything happen to it. If it was me, I would want experts to do my move to make sure that everything arrives safely in my new home. The cost of hiring a moving company is a lot less than replacing your wonderful things.”
