Philanthropist & NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Leads Foundation Dedicated to Children Living with Cystic Fibrosis
LOS ANGELES, April 18, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Claire’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis, today announced the election of NorthStar Moving Company Co-Founder Laura McHolm as the foundation’s new Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Laura has been a member of Claire’s Place Foundation Board since it’s founding. As co-founder of NorthStar Moving, Laura has built a company and a life that is focused on helping others and lifting up those in need. In fact, her dedication to the community and individuals was recognized on a national level by the editors at Ladies’ Home Journal, naming her one of “16 Women Who Made The World Happier.” Laura’s passion to help others led her to Claire’s Place Foundation Founder Claire Wineland when she was just 14 years old. Laura was answering Claire’s heartfelt wish to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater LA for a newly designed mermaid-themed bedroom. Since that first encounter over five years ago, Laura has been making Claire feel like a star and has worked tirelessly to help build the foundation. Laura made Claire the face of her company’s blog, Moving Happiness Home, giving Claire a place to shine, and has created countless campaigns to support the growth of the foundation, helping more and more children living with cystic fibrosis.
“Laura is not only an incredible leader and colleague, she has also become a part of our family,” said Claire’s Place Foundation Executive Director Melissa Nordquist. “She may be the co-founder of a moving company, but she thinks outside of the box. Laura puts countless hours into helping Claire’s Place Foundation serve our mission, making the organization a household name and endless time into thinking of new ways she can help. We are absolutely thrilled to have her as our new chair.”
“I am so honored to be elected chairman of the board,” said Laura. “I have been in awe and inspired since I met Claire and wholeheartedly believe in the foundation’s mission. There is such a need to help the families impacted by cystic fibrosis, financially and emotionally. I am so proud of the impact we have had thus far and look forward to helping many, many more families and young patients as we grow.”
