Hip hip hooray! School is almost here! If you can’t tell, I love going back to school. Are you ready for the new year? If so, that’s great. If not, don’t worry. I am going to tell you all the ways you can prepare for the new year ahead. Follow these steps to ensure you start  off on the right foot:

Back-To-School Shopping

Ah, this is my favorite part! Contact your school to see if there’s a special supplies list for the grade you’re entering. If there isn’t, make a list of everything you think you will need, such as pencils, pens, colored pencils—you get the point. When you’re ready to go shopping, look for stores with back-to-school specials. For instance, Target has a “buy one, give one” special. For each school supply you buy, Target will give another one to the Kids in Need Foundation. How neat is that? So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go shopping!!

School Routine

A few weeks before school starts, try going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. This will get your body used to the new time adjustments just in time for school. The night before the first day of school go to bed early and make sure you have all your supplies packed and ready to go. The last thing you want to do is rush.

Join School Activities

Want to start off on the right foot? Signing up for school activities such as student government or the baseball team is a fun way to start the year. These clubs give you something to look forward to when you start school and help you meet new people. Don’t see an activity you want to join? Start your own! Ask your school about how you can create your own club or team. This general overview of the process can help you get started, but make sure to get the specifics from your school.

School Time!

Today’s the day! Put your best smile on, and make this year a the best one yet. It’s OK to be scared, but just remember that it’s going to be great!

Something fun I like to do is to take a picture of myself on the first day of every new school year. Then, you can look back and see how much you have grown. Do you have any fun first day traditions?

I’m still over here jumping with joy thinking about school. What’s your favorite thing about going back to school? Tell me about it in the Comments section!
