It is said that Encino was named after the Encino Oak Tree, the oldest known tree in Los Angeles. From the 1950s until the late 1990s, people were moving to Encino to view the Encino Oak. “It was huge and just phenomenal,” people might have said. Today an eight-foot by six-foot slice of the tree remains where the oak tree once stood. You’ll have to get moving to Encino to see it yourself!

Balboa Park
