  1. Get a good night’s sleep. It’s natural to be worried and want to stay up late to double check your plans, but  the stress of moving can be brought on from a restless night prior to moving day. Having a full night’s rest can make you more alert in the morning and ready to face any obstacles on moving day.
  2. Beacon relaxing viewBreathe. Breathing might be a mechanical and thoughtless action, but deep breathing helps eliminate the stress of moving. Breathe from your diaphragm for fuller deeper breaths, and slow down your breathing in general. Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. The longer you extend the exhale, the more relaxed you’ll feel.
  3. Be optimistic. It’s amazing what a positive outlook can do for relieving the stress of moving. Focusing on the positive things going on, like a new home, will help you keep a positive outlook even when things do not go according to plan. 4. Get organized. Getting organized before the move prevents stress of moving from even starting. Have a plan of where things will go and organizing your to do list helps you keep priorities straight.
  5. Plan ahead. Print out directions and leave some room for the movers to be late or possible complications. Stress of moving comes from moves not going according to plan, make sure to have back up plans and alternative measures. Dedicate your whole day to moving. This will give you time after the move to rest and recover from moving day.
  6. Bring a friend. Having some moral support or someone you can rely on truly makes a  big difference when the stress of moving overwhelms you. They can take care of all the little details you might have forgotten like making sure your car has a full tank of gas or running to the ATM for some cash to tip your movers. Having a second pair of hands means they can watch over the move when you need to take a breather from the stress of moving.
